Pablo Gordienko, a native of San José, Costa Rica, is a fervent entrepreneur committed to advancing reforestation, sustainable agriculture, and contemporary concepts in a country renowned for its abundant biodiversity. His dedication and vision materialize in the establishment of Santuario de Macao S.A, a 400-hectare private reserve situated in Los Cerros de Turrubares, in the Central Pacific region of Costa Rica.
Educated with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Louisiana State University and a Master of Science in Agribusiness from Santa Clara University, Pablo returned to Costa Rica with a renewed mission and perspective. Initially, he engaged in the export of ornamental plants to the European market and served as the president of the Chamber of Producers and Exporters of Ornamental Plants of Costa Rica. Additionally, he held the position of Director at LAICA, an organization connecting factories and producers of cane sugar.
Pablo is a stakeholder in various societies dedicated to forest preservation. Notably, he is associated with “Protegiendo el Bosque S.A.,” safeguarding 600 hectares of cloud forest. In another society, he has overseen the plantation of over 500 hectares of teak and Melina trees.
At the forefront of his endeavors is Macaw Lodge, a sustainable lifestyle-promoting hotel in harmony with nature. The eco-lodge generates its own solar energy, cultivates its fruits and vegetables, relies on a local water spring, and embraces other eco-friendly practices. Moreover, Macaw Lodge actively educates and implements agroforestry systems, emphasizing the coexistence of trees and crops.
